Look what we found!

In the Museum & Art Galley, Birmingham, around a picture: Ribbon and Stick moulding, and a rather nice gilded one at that on a Victorian picture frame. We've looked at a simple version of this astragal moulding (here).

And how about that lovely olive leaf moulding next to it. Do you think you could have a go at carving it?

Picture frames are really good sources for ornamental carving and if this is the sort of thing that interests you, it's well worth taking along a camera. Never mind the paintings - show me the frame!
