We love showcasing our members carvings; after all, getting people to carve is what Woodcarving Workshops is all about! In the gallery you’ll see a wide range of carvings, from novice to advanced; each one the result of time and effort, inspiration and dedication. We value them all!

Description:
I carved this penguin for my wife for our anniversary. She just adores penguins! The body is basswood, and the beak is a 3/16" (4.7 mm) birch dowel, which I glued to the body. The figure is about 3-1/4" (8 cm) high x 1-9/16" (4 cm) in diameter. I used a plastic souvenir which I purchased at a museum gift shop as a model. It took me about 8 hours to complete. I have been carving since I retired about 2-1/2 years ago. I took 9 carving classes at adult education at a local high school. I also joined the Seacoast Carvers club in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA. We are currently working on Chris' " Brunley Green Man".
