Description:
I carved it (2010) in the trunk of a dead walnut tree that I cut in 2008. For the little story, I carved in 1999 a duck's vacuum-pocket I really liked, then I wanted to make a bigger one, a armchair. But I had to find a much bigger piece of wood also! The years passed and I cut this walnut tree, I really didn't know what I wanted to crave in it, then I remembered the vaccum-pocket. I redrew it in relation of the trunk, I borrowed the tractor of my neighbor to straighten it, took the chainsaw and began to carve the swan in the wood. I used different adzes (from Auriou, like most of my gouges, I lived near St Juery before), large gouges and for the sanding: angle grinder, orbital sander and fine sandpaper for the finish sanding. It is waxed with a brush and I used a heat gun to heat the wax and thus get better into the wood. I rubbed it with a brush mounted on a drill and a white cloth. I learn carving in 1998/99 with Jean-Paul Baurens to Cordes sur Ciel, France. I began with living model, feminin nude. When I began to carve alone in my workshop, I carved some fantastic and realistic animals, I alredy loved birds, made some and the years went on I carved them more and more, with fairies, angels ... wings!!! Then I found this wonderful woodcarving website, thanks to Auriou (Forge de St Juery). I'm learning a lot of things I didn't know at all, what a lot of skills! I think my carving is going to change for the better now, because Chris changes my way of ..... I don't find the words to say what I really feel! Anyway, I really want to thank Chris (and Carrie also) for the love he gives in all that he does, that he makes...
