Figure hunched over

Dimensions: 4" W X 6 1/2 "D X 8"H

Description:

I've been carving for about 45 years, initially taught by my father, and much more recently by Chris. Butternut is great carving wood. It was difficult, though, to finish the hands, head, between the arms cross-grain. I did this piece in the first class I took with Chris, there learned the value of slicing cuts. This is a portrait of how I felt after an overwhelming loss, but others have seen it differently, and I like that. All of my in the round pieces are made to be handled, like big soothing stones.
