We love showcasing our members carvings; after all, getting people to carve is what Woodcarving Workshops is all about! In the gallery you’ll see a wide range of carvings, from novice to advanced; each one the result of time and effort, inspiration and dedication. We value them all!

Description:
At age 54, I’ve been carving for two years now and discover a true passion. In 2001, when I begin woodworking, I knew it was something I had inside of me since I was young but… life, kids, priorities and good timing, you know? But, hey, I’m in now, and very deeply in it. For this particular carving, I’ve been inspire by a Canadian illustrator, Joyce Geleynse. Feeling bad because I use someone else’s work, I emailed Joyce who replied promptly with enthusiasm. This was her returning mail: ‘’Wow!!!! Your work is absolutely beautiful!!! What talent you have been given! I love this very much! I am not upset that you chose to base your carving on my image. I enjoy the thought of my art bringing inspiration to others! I very much appreciate your honesty and that you took the risk of contacting me about this!’’ I was more than happy with this. I felt I was a little ‘’one of gang”. Those artists I had always so much respect and admiration for them. I don’t woodcarve for my living but to let go my passion and my love in life and sometimes to be able to give to others a little bit of joy. All I want now is to be able to carve for the rest of my life. This particular carving will soon be part of a cabinet I intend to build (with my own drawing, this time!)
