Mesopotamian toothpick

Project Owner: Bert Kirsten
Type of Wood: Jelutong
Finish: Thinned polyurethane varnish - 1 coat
Dimensions: 75mm x 20mm

Description:

One has to start somewhere. After dithering, buying sharpening stuff, reading book after book for it seems the best of my 62 years, I came across Chris's passage on "Beginner's syndrome". Indeed... and thanks Chris for the gentle kick where it was most needed. This is my first carving ever. It started out a lot bigger but "slip after slip" tells the story... I promise it was not whittled. The name? Google "Arkansas toothpick" My daughter thinks it is cute...
