I was intrigued by the feeling of depth in Chris's 'Rosette' so I watched his video, took a few notes then went on holiday with my block of lime and carving tools. It was clear to me early on that I was not following the recommended approach ! So on return from holiday, it was a matter of recovering the situation ! My wife approved of the piece and told me not to be so negative! So my 'Rosette' is on our wall and I can no longer see my mistakes, but am drawn in by the light and shadows and the surfaces. This piece makes me want to do more with wood and my gouges.
