We love showcasing our members carvings; after all, getting people to carve is what Woodcarving Workshops is all about! In the gallery you’ll see a wide range of carvings, from novice to advanced; each one the result of time and effort, inspiration and dedication. We value them all!

Project Owner: Mitchell Lang
Type of Wood: Quartersawn Red Oak
Finish: Watco Danish Oil
Dimensions: 15" x 33"
Description:
I carved these inscriptions as gifts for St. Francis Church in Portland, Oregon. Their volunteer-run dining hall serves hot meals to the homeless six days a week. The font is Testament, which combines Uncials and Roman capitals. (I modified some of the letters for carving.) Because the figure of this wood is busy I used acrylic paint to make them more readable.
