'Final details' means things like adding a whiskers effect and deepening shadows with punches.
I used my favourite finish: beeswax. You can learn all about it here.
You'll need to add something on the back by which to hang your hare's head. I used an escutcheon plate, essentially and upside down keyhole; I find this the most secure way of holding carvings to a wall. I've used them elsewhere on Woodcarving Workshops, for example in the Koi carp here.
