If you thought fitting the dorsal fin with a mortise and tenon joint was tricky, you'll find dovetailing the two side, pectoral and pelvic, fins into the body more of the same fun.
You don't have to make a dovetail as such. You could just dowel the fins on, but I'm not convinced this would be that easy, or look so good. And I've got to say that when I'd finished I felt very pleased with how it all looked from underneath - even if no one else will see it!
In this lesson we create the fins themselves, paying great attention to the fluid run of the ridges between flutes.
