Apologies for the wobble in the carving as I worked on it. I was using my lighter, adjustable holding device and not aware this happening as I carve and, of course, it's not always possible to go back and re-shoot what I was doing.
At this point, I've long stopped looking at my original model and am working directly with the wood, visualing with the help of photos and my sketches.
I ended up taking off far more wood from the body (folded wings) than I originally thought I might. At the same time I aimed to keep the sides of the body (folded wings) full and plump.
