Finishing off the carving, including the knot, and undercutting.
There are many ways of carving a knot; here I'm giving you one of the simplest. If you add an outer 'ring' of crescent cuts, the knot appears more complicated. You can also vary the final 'wrinkle-effect' cuts.

As an alternative to the back edge ground skewed chisel ( if you are not that adventurous )you good use a Pfeil Abegglen detail knife.Very handy tool.
