The rope appears...
From the lines, technically called 'troughs', we shape the convex lines of the 'rope' itself, technically called the 'bines'. I consolidate and finish off the carving by 'shaping' with a fine rasp. If you don't have a rasp, glue sandpaper to strips of wood.
At the end of this stage the twist should feel smooth and twisty, without any facets or changes in rope thickness.
