Levelling

Smoothing, cleaning up a surface.

'Levelling' is a fundamental carving skill, as is the slicing cut with which you execute it. The thing is, it doesn't matter whether the surface is a flat plane like this background, curved or hollowed; this is a really great way to clean up and finish off.
