The same holly leaf design, the same way of carving it - but what a different effect!
In this lesson I look at alternatives to carving on a turned base for those who don't have access to a lathe as well as the project itself.

Clovis - Thanks for those kind comments - and you are so welcome!
The important thing about the carving 'journey' is... not to stop.
All the best and hope to see you back before too long.

Chris- I am taking my leave of the site after these several months. The information you have shared via the videos and comments have been invaluable. Eventually, I would like to carve a "Green Man" so I'll be back at some point in the future.
All the best and thanks for the inspiration and great techniques,
Clovis Davis

Clovis - It's a bit frustrating for me to do a search from the UK, my browser keeps returning UK ones.
However, the term I put in was "brass candle dish and spike woodturners" because it's the woodturners who mainly use them.
I found quite a lot of results (for UK) so if you try that from the US I'm sure you'll find a source.

Chris- I have spent quite a bit of time trying to locate a supplier here in the US for the brass spiked pillar candle holder you are showing in the video. Could you please share a source or url where I can find them? I have had a great time carving a couple of the 4X4 Holly Candle Holders, but I am stymied on the circular one trying to find the candle holder. Also, what size do you reccomend? 3-4 or 5 inch? Thanks, Clovis
