When you open the download you'll see my working drawing, available for your personal use. What you won't see is all the work that went into that drawing. And this is what I want to give you a flavour of here. The effort that might go into a carving, the 'design journey' before ever a gouge is picked up comes as a surprise to many.
But it really is the crucial part of any carving: A good design will carry not-so-good carving, but no matter how good your carving skills, a poor design will always look just that.
So always take your time on the design and preparation stages of your work.
