The surface decoration here is what I've called a 'Corner Leaf'. I show the whole process of carving these leaves again in wider detail in the DVD I made with Rob Cosman, shown in its entirety on our site.
I've always liked this leaf carving: it's straightforward and uses many techniques you'll find in other decorative carving; and the design is readily adaptable - for example 3 leaves radiate here, but you could readily design 4 or 6, or change the overall shape.
What was missing from that DVD was an actual application, showing how we could use it in practice, and this was requested by one of you. And here it is: a circular mirror with the leaves in the four corners. Carrie thinks the result is quite charming and would make a great weekend project!
Wood: 10 x 10 x 3/4in. (250 x 250 x 20mm), light coloured: Limewood, Basswood, Maple etc.
Mirror: bevelled and circular 8in. (200 x 200mm) diameter from DIY store.

Jon - Thanks, and well spotted! We really appreciate keen-eyed feedback like that.
I've now corrected the download.

I just noticed a small error in the information with the working drawing. It says the wood is 100 x 100 x 20mm, when it should read 250 x 250 x 20mm. Maybe obvious, but it might trip someone up. Thanks for all the good work!
